II.1.2 The Peerage Continuity and Officer's Incapacity Act of 7533 (VIII ACG 1), Article 15, as amended 7535

Article Fifteen. Incapacity of the Lord Great Steward. Section One. Whenever the Lord Great Steward transmits to the Lord President his written declaration that he is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Lord President shall immediately notify the Regent, and until the Lord Great Steward transmit to the Lord President a written declaration to the contrary, such powers and duties shall be discharged by the Regent as the Lord Great Steward's Surrogate.

Section Two. Whenever the Regent, acting on the advice of competent medical and / or legal authority, transmits to the Lord President his written declaration that the Steward is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Regent shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as the Steward's Surrogate. Thereafter, when the Steward transmits to the Lord President his written declaration that no inability exists, the Lord President immediately notify the Regent, and the Steward shall resume the powers and duties of his office, unless the Regent and two members of the Privy Council transmit to the Lord President within one week of the Regent's receipt of the Lord President's notification their written declaration that the Lord Great Steward remains unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Thereupon the Lord President and the Lord [High] Chancellor shall summon the Council-General to meet within four weeks and decide the issue, the Lord President acting, until the decision is rendered, as the Lord Great Steward's Surrogate, provided, that whenever the Lord President acts as the Steward's Surrogate, no bill of the Privy Council shall become law within the consent of a two-thirds majority of the Privy Council, and no appointment shall take effect without the advice and consent of the Privy Council.

Section Three. Whenever the Regent and the Lord Great Steward are simultaneously incapacitated, the Lord President shall summon the Accession Council, as provided in Article Sixteen of this Act, and the Secretary of State shall discharge the powers and duties of the Regent as Deputy Regent, and the Lord President shall discharge the powers and duties of the Lord Great Steward, as the Steward's Surrogate, under the restrictions set out in Section Two of this Article, until the Accession Council provide for the discharge of the powers and duties of the Regent and of the Lord Great Steward's Surrogate.
