ARTICLE TWO

THE King and Kingdoms of Gondor and Arnor recognize the Kings and Kingdom of Rhovanion to be a free and independent sovereign and state, and accept them as a part of the Host of the West and of the Five Peoples, and pledge to them as such the King's leadership and protection as Captain of the Host of the West and Defender of the Five Peoples; and they vow that the enemies of Rhovanion's Kings shall be their enemies, Rhovanion's Kings' need shall be their need, and that whatsoever evil, or threat, or assault may come upon Rhovanion's Kings or their Kingdom, they will give aid to the Kings and Kingdom of Rhovanion to the utmost end of their strength.

ARTICLE THREE

THE King and Kingdoms of Gondor and Arnor acknowledge the unique status of the National Tolkien League in the affairs of Rhovanion. The High Contracting Parties agree that in this treaty and in all other diplomatic relations between them, the Kings of Rhovanion and their officers act on behalf of, and under the authority of the laws and customs of, the Kingdom of Rhovanion, and not on behalf of the National Tolkien League under the authority of the League's Organic Act, which would and does prohibit the League itself from entering into such a treaty or such diplomatic relations.

ARTICLE FOUR

LET there be and endure from this time forward as of old a sincere firm and perpetual friendship, concord and union between the High Contracting Parties and their subjects as well on sea and in air and space as on land and in all places whatsoever in the World.

ARTICLE FIVE

IN order that this friendship, concord, and union may be better and more strongly kept, restored, and protected, and to specify the body of law and custom jointly recognized by the High Contracting Parties and further to facilitate in other ways the execution of the present compact, the High Contracting Parties shall from time to time jointly append to this treaty various protocols, which documents shall have equal force and weight with this present treaty; and each of the High Contracting Parties shall accredit to the other an Ambassador Plenipotentiary, along with such inferior officers as it may be found mutually satisfactory to appoint.
